A visit to Lookout Ridge will immediately tune your senses to this special habitat. Imagine taking a morning walk and finding moose prints in the rich earth or delicate lynx tracks in the snow.

A recent National Geographic survey found that the surrounding region is one of North America’s best-kept destinations for its distinctive character and the integrity of its natural and cultural resources. A new geo-tourism mapping project aims to help maintain the uncommon sense of place and environmental integrity.

In the spirit of this last best place, our team honors the land and has a conscious eye to the environment and community. In order to maintain the environmental integrity of the land, nearly 40 acres of our community is designated as open space. These protected areas will ensure that the land retains it's natural beauty even as the development evolves. A few of the environmentally sound programs incorporated into Lookout Ridge include:

  • The Wildlife Management Plan - which ensures regional species will continue to flourish.
  • The Forest Management Plan - which identifies strategies to maintain a healthy, sustainable forest and retain long-lived trees.
  • The hand-clearing of trees in sensitive areas to minimize damage to the forest floor, preserving natural wonders like the beautiful bear grass that blooms each summer.
  • "Dark Sky” compliant streetlight standards which help to minimize light pollution, protecting the amazing starry Montana night sky views.

To help maintain a vibrant, healthy, and diverse community, more than $750,000 is being invested to build more than 3 miles of off-road private trails throughout Lookout Ridge. A public portion of these trails will traverse the southwest portion of the property and be the final link between the City of Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort.

We recognize how important the environment and the community is in making Lookout Ridge so unique, and we are committed to reflecting that in the design and development of this project.
